'What else can I try to help this student learn?'
This question sums up the attitude of teachers at Upton Hall.   We know the best teachers never stop learning and, as Dylan Williams, says, 'we accept that every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better'  We use a number of ways to improve our pedagogy including TeachMeets, reading groups, the  Outstanding Teachers Programme, personal research projects and, most of all, talking to each other about our experiences and questions.  The Pedagogy blog gives an excellent insight into the care and thought our teachers bring to their teaching practice.
At Upton we make good use of the opportunities to work with other excellent practitioners, not least our sister FCJ schools. We are currently involved in a nationwide research project, Myriad, into the effectiveness of mindfulness for young people. Subject leaders and senior leaders have also completed projects with the Prince's Teaching Institute.    You can read more about some of these activities on the tabs to the left.
