Technology College status is being used to support the personalising of learning in the specialist subjects and also across the curriculum as a whole. This means that learning programmes are devised in such a way as to take account of the individual needs of every pupil. There are a number of strands to this process. They include:

• Assessment for learning – enabling students to make progress based on what they have demonstrated that they understand and can do
• Learning to learn – developing strategies so that students can engage in independent study so that they can take charge of their own learning and also develop thinking skills.
• Student voice – ensuring that learning opportunities take account of the interests that pupils have.
• New technologies – making use of information technology including on-line learning, interactive whiteboards and voting devices to enable pupils to undertake independent research and interact more readily in the learning process.
• Student mentoring – pairing pupils up in different Year groups to help and support each other.
• Classroom design for learning – designing and ordering classrooms and buildings to support different learning requirements of students.
