

The new specification is designed to encourage candidates to:
The AS specification has 2 units: At AS, this specification offers an academic approach to the study of religion and is accessible to candidates of any religious persuasion or none.
In each of the two units chosen, candidates answer two structured essay questions, from a choice of four.
Written Papers: 1hr 15 mins each unit.
Weighting: Each unit accounts for 50% of the total AS marks
The A2 specification has 2 units : At A2, the specification enables candidates to study in greater depth aspects of one or more religion(s), including textual, theological, historical, ethical, phenomenological and philosophical perspectives.
Candidates answer two structured essay questions, from a choice of four.
Written Paper: 1hr 30 mins.
Weighting: Each unit accounts for 50% of total A2 marks.
The AS specification has 2 units:
Utilitarianism; Situation Ethics ; Religious teaching
on the nature and value of human life.
Abortion and Euthanasia .
The nature and purpose of religious art;
Religion,art and popular culture;
Cyber religion and TV religion
The A2 Specification has 2 units:
Libertarianism, free will and determinism; Virtue Ethics
Religious Studies can be linked to many future careers but in particular to – Medicine; Law; Teaching; Social Work; Business Enterprise.
Former students have gone on to become Lawyers, Medical Practitioners; Teachers; Social Workers
