This course gives an introduction to the concepts, principles and techniques which underlie critical thinking and expands their application to a range of contexts. It is very useful in preparing for a wide range of careers.

Description of Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning is focussed on enabling students to develop:

An understanding of the principles, concepts and techniques of critical thinking
The skills of communication, problem-solving, analysis and evaluation
A framework for moral, social and ethical decision-making
A capacity for methodical and critical thought.

Critical Thinking is highly recommended for Medicine, Law, Social Sciences, Journalism, Business, Accounting, Engineering and Academic Research.

Critical Thinking is a new subject but it has already proved very beneficial in preparing candidates for highly competitive courses.

Additional Information

Critical Thinking will be studied in addition to the expected four AS levels. The Critical Thinking groups will be created following close scrutiny of GCSE results.
