Mr Tony Benn, who addressed the Sixth Form on the subject of ‘Peace’ in our world.

 

Mr Neil Ashbridge, Deputy Agent for the Bank of England who gave a presentation on the work of the Bank of England.


Ms Felicity Goodey, Journalist, Foreign Affairs correspondent and business woman, who spoke about her work in the media and emphasised how important it is for young people to engage in the political process and become active citizens.


Mr Ben Chapman MP who spoke about the influence of the East and the growth of China as a world power in industry and commerce.


Professor David Auckland, Director of Manchester Science Enterprise Centre who spoke about enterprise and setting up of businesses.


Lord David Sainsbury, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for Science and Innovation, who spoke about the importance of Science and Innovation in Education.


The Russian Cosmonaut Alexander Volkov and Space Scientist Alexander Martynov addressed Year 13 and had lunch with members of the Astronomy Club.


Mrs Gee Walker, mother of murdered schoolboy Anthony Walker who visited school to open our Peace Garden and delivered a very emotive address to members of our Sixth Form about peace and forgiveness.


Professor Barry Plumb, Vice Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University who spoke about Higher Education.


Mr Steve Maddox, Chief Executive of Wirral Borough Council.
