Upton Hall School

Relay for Life

Jenny Taylor, former pupil and daughter of Mrs Anne Taylor organised a ‘Relay for Life’ in support of Cancer Reseach, in memory of her father, Mr Geoff Taylor.

She invited friends, family and anyone who could be persuaded to form a relay team that would walk or run for 24 hours.

The event took place at Wavertree Athletics Centre on Sunday 7 September 2008.

In spite of this being the first weekend of the new term and promising to be one of the wettest, two teams of Upton staff turned out to walk for 24 hours. So far they have raised £3,000.  Jenny thinks the event could raise over £14,000 for this vital work.

Two researchers from the University of Liverpool addressed the walkers to explain the work they are undertaking to improve the care of those suffering from cancer.
