Upton Hall School

Visits of Fr Michael Youell

Fr Michael Youell visited Upton Hall in November to talk to the Sixth Form about rising to the challenges of life and his time in Peru working as a priest on the LAMP project (Liverpool Archdiocese Missionary Project).

He distributed a copy of his book “Anecdotes of a Liverpool Missionary Priest in Peru” to every Sixth Former. During the day he then worked with several Spanish classes to assist them with speaking and understanding Spanish.

The Sixth Formers went on to raise funds for his work in Peru and an additional contribution came from the proceeds of the Christmas concert. Fr Michael was able to distribute these funds to disadvantaged families during his visit to Peru during the Winter.

In May he visited Upton again and did a fascinating presentation to the Upper Sixth and the new Head Girl’s Team about Peru and about the people in the villages and parishes where he had worked.

Once again the staff, Sixth Formers and pupils of the school were delighted to invite him into classes during the rest of the day. We hope to continue to support him in his future work for the benefit of the disadvantaged in Peru.
