Edexcel Syllabus (Modular)
Mathematics is a core subject which every pupil takes to GCSE level.
The government recently announced that coursework is to be removed from Mathematics GCSE. The examinations boards have not yet said how they will incorporate this change into the GCSE specification. We expect the content of the three examinations to remain the same, but expect there to be changes in the length and weighting of the examination.
All students at Upton Hall are expected to study for the Higher Tier GCSE. This offers the opportunity to achieve grades A*, A, B, C or D. While it is possible for students to transfer to the Foundation Tier, this would only be recommended in exceptional circumstances.
The year group is streamed and each group has the same teacher for Years 10 and 11. Top groups are expected to achieve A* while other groups are expected to achieve A or B grades. However, it is possible for any student to achieve an A* grade.
