

An exciting feature of modern society is the breathtaking speed at which technology is changing. It affects not only our private lives but also our working lives. To be successful in future employment it is essential that we prepare ourselves to be able to satisfy the needs and expectations of prospective employers.
It is the aim of this course to provide an opportunity to learn how to acquire those skills which are not merely demanded but presumed by universities and employers alike.
Pupils will follow the AQA GCSE short course specification A in Information and Communication Technology.
Information and Communication Technology:
Coursework 1: Coursework will consist of a Board-set Assignment.
Pupils are given the description of a situation where the appropriate use of Information Technology will solve some given problems. Pupils are requested to produce a report which demonstrates their ability to analyse a problem, identify requirements and make use of Information Technology to provide wider solutions which they will design, implement, test and evaluate.
Pupils will be expected to have studied a range of suitable applications and use their knowledge to solve problems by suggesting and justifying an appropriate ICT solution.

Higher Tier and Foundation Tier
To be set regularly which may include written work, research work, collecting data or completing work on ICT equipment in their spare time either at home or in school. The setting of Homework does not necessitate having ICT equipment at home.
Homework also includes working to produce evidence for coursework assignments. This may include writing to organisations, e-mailing, writing or typing tasks. It will also mean students analysing information and finding out what the exam board requires students to produce.
